Why speed matters on Kijiji
Kijiji is still where a lot of Canada sells used furniture, tools, bikes, gaming gear and cars. The ads priced well below market rarely last the afternoon. The first person to send a polite message with a pickup time usually gets it, and the seller stops answering everyone else.
Refreshing the app between meetings doesn't scale past one or two searches, and saved searches aren't built for speed. Dibs watches your searches on a schedule and tells you the moment something new fits, so you can be the first reply without living in the app.
How Kijiji alerts work
Setup takes about a minute. There's nothing to install on your computer and nothing to keep open.
- 1
Save a watchlist
Type what you want, like “Herman Miller” or “PS5”, then set a max price, your city and a distance. Add words to skip, like “broken” or “for parts”.
- 2
We check Kijiji for you
Every 15 minutes on Free, every minute on Pro, every 20 seconds on Power. New ads are compared with your filters and recent sold prices.
- 3
You get the alert first
A push or email arrives with the price, distance, resale estimate and how long after posting we caught it. Tap through to the ad and message the seller.
Built-in scam checks for Kijiji ads
Most Kijiji scams follow a few patterns: a price far below what the item sells for, a seller who wants a deposit by e-transfer before you see anything, or an ad that only offers shipping from another province. Dibs looks for those signals and marks risky listings before you message, with the reason in plain words.
A flag is a warning, not a verdict. Plenty of real sellers price low because they want it gone today. The point is that you go in knowing what to check.
- Price compared with recent sold prices for the same item
- Deposit-first and e-transfer-only wording called out
- Meet in a public place and pay on pickup, every time
Know the profit before you reply
If you flip, the asking price is only half the story. Each Dibs alert shows what the item has recently sold for, so you can tell a $380 bike that resells for $650 from one that resells for $400. Pro adds a deal score and price-drop alerts for ads you're already watching.
When you do buy, the flip tracker records what you paid and works out your profit after eBay fees and shipping when it sells.
Kijiji, Marketplace and eBay in one feed
Good deals in Canada are split between Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace, and the same item often turns up on both. One Dibs watchlist can cover Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji and eBay at once, so you see every match in one list instead of three apps.
The Free plan gives you 2 watchlists checked every 15 minutes, with no card. Pro is $12 a month for 10 watchlists checked every minute. You can see the alert speed we're hitting right now on the status page.
Kijiji alerts: questions
Does Kijiji have its own alerts?
Kijiji lets you save a search and get notified about new results, which is fine for casual browsing. It isn't built for speed, and it doesn't tell you how long a listing was up before you heard about it. Dibs checks on a fixed schedule you can see and stamps every alert with how fast it was caught.
How often does Dibs check Kijiji?
Every 15 minutes on the Free plan, every minute on Pro, and every 20 seconds for up to 5 priority watchlists on Power.
Can I get Kijiji alerts for my city only?
Yes. Every watchlist has a location and a distance, so you can watch Toronto within 15 km, all of the GTA, or a smaller town and the area around it.
Do I need a Kijiji account or password?
No. Dibs never asks for marketplace logins. Alerts link to the public listing, and you message the seller from Kijiji as usual.
Can one watchlist cover Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace?
Yes. Pick any mix of Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace and eBay for each watchlist, and the matches land in one feed.
Be first to the next good Kijiji ad
2 watchlists, no card, and 7 days of Pro to see how fast it is. If it isn't for you, you never pay a thing.
